Scheduled to appear live and in person on John Bohannon’s Jazz Cafe, WRHU-FM 88.7 and on line at wrhu.org 1pm to 4pm NY time.

Monday, August 19: Bria Skonberg, trumpet player, singer, songwriter, instigator. She says, “I want to break the stereotype of what traditional jazz is.”  She likes to re-imagine older jazz songs through a modern prism. Singer-guitarist John Pizzarelli and his father guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli call her unbelievable. Writer and critic Will Friedwald says, “Bria Skonberg looks like a Scandinavian angel, plays trumpet like a red hot devil, and sings like a dream.”  The Jazz Journalists Association has nominated her for its Artist of the Year award.

Monday, August 26: Singer Maud Hixson ( a return guest with JB). Michael Feinstein says, “Her vocal style is so warm, intimate, and compelling. It’s clear that she cares about the words and telling the story with clarity and without artifice, practically a lost art these days.

Tuesday, August 27: Singer Shoshanna Bush. Her debut CD, Live at the Catalina Jazz Club, is getting lots of play on radio stations around the country. She’s being described as a developing artist with a bright future as a jazz singer.
